SPORTS CAMP 2024
Final Medal Count:
Gold Medals – 4
Silver Medals – 2
Bronze Medals – 11
What an incredible week it was at Sports Camp! Our students competed in a variety of sports that included Ki O Rahi, Cross Country, Badminton, Checkers, Kiwi Tag, Basketball, Volleyball, Orienteering, Tennis, Gaga Ball, Netball, Archery, Lacrosse, Hungerball, Air Rifle Shooting, Mountain Biking, Climbing, Flag Football, Pickleball, Chess, and Table Tennis.
Throughout the week, we witnessed the true spirit of kotahitanga (unity) as our students supported and encouraged one another. They displayed perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges, and a growth mindset by constantly improving and learning from their experiences.
From being victorious to hard-fought battles, our students dispalyed exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication. They deserve to be proud of themselves and all they have experienced and achieved.
As a school we are very proud to announce that Randwick Park School won the Best Overall Performance prize, earning a $500 HART Sports Voucher! Additionally, we achieved an impressive Third Overall ranking across the entire week.
Congratulations to all our students for their efforts and achievements. Here are examples of some of the memories made and the friendships strengthened.

CHESS NATIONALS IN WELLINGTON
The chess trip to Nationals was amazing! We flew to Wellington on the last Friday of Term 3. We had Aymaan, Isaiah, Roland, Jaysal, and myself on the team as well as Miss Bleakley and Mrs Lindsay. The Chess Competition was held at Wellington College and there were 18 Intermediate teams from all over New Zealand to challenge. Overall we came 14th in New Zealand and had some tough games. It was a great experience. Afterward we also went to see Te Papa Museum and the Parliament buildings.
Thank you Miss Bleakley and Mrs Lindsay for looking after us.

CYBERSAFETY – PROTECTING OUR TAMARIKI ONLINE
As parents/whānau, you do everything you can to keep your tamariki safe. Being online is no different, but the strategies to keep our tamariki safe are. Here is this week’s Cyber Safety tip to ensure the online safety of our tamariki.
Keep track of online time
It is recommended that tamariki between the ages of five and 17 should have no more than two hours of screen time per day. So, it’s important to monitor your child’s online time, particularly children under the age of 14, to ensure they do not develop bad habits. Get your children to agree on a period of time, say 30 minutes per session, and set a timer to go off – don’t forget to make this a non-negotiable finish time. You should also switch off the home Wi-Fi at a set time each night (ideally before bedtime) so everyone has some ‘time-out’ from the internet. You can also try making some days ‘screen-free’ in your home to encourage everyone to pursue other more active and/or less technology-driven ways to entertain themselves.
