TERM 2 TE HUI AKO: A MEETING TO SHARE LEARNING
TUESDAY 7 – THURSDAY 9 MAY

Thank you those of you who have attended our Te Hui Ako this afternoon. We are looking forward to having our usual great response from nearly all of you. We get sooooo… close to our 100% participation each time we hold these. We consistently have a significant number of classes that achieve 100%. We are aiming to have this across our whole kura. You do such a wonderful job in supporting your tamariki by coming along and hearing of their progress. We look forward to seeing the rest of you over the next couple of days. If for some reason you are unable to attend at your assigned time please contact either your child’s teacher or our school office to arrange an alternative time.

Remember if you go to the library and complete our survey your name goes into a draw for either a $50 grocery voucher or a Harry Potter lego set.

NANO GIRL ASSEMBLY
Last week Friday we the Kowhai Team went to the hall because Nano Girl was doing cool science. First Debbie dipped her hand in the water and put fire on her hand without hurting herself. I wish I could put fire on my hand, but I cannot do it without adults. Next Nano Girl got Rishant to hold the atoms in three states of matter. Then she picked Anisha to blow into the bag and when she blew it, it was like a sausage. She picked Ryder to catch the balloon and shake it to guess what was inside, she then put fire under it with water and it did not pop. Finally, Nano Girl made elephant toothpaste. I was happy to see all the experiments because it was very cool.

TE REO MĀORI AT RPS

Kei ngā maunga whakahī o te motu, tēnā rā koutou katoa,

Ko Maunga Pōhatu te maunga.
Ōhinemataroa te awa.
Mātaatua te waka.
Tūhoe te iwi.
Ko Whaea Marge ahau.

We’re excited to share that we’ve been incorporating Te Reo Māori, the language of Aotearoa/New Zealand, into our daily activities.

We start and end our days with karakia (prayer) and sing waiata (songs) together. We’re also learning simple words and phrases like greetings (kia ora), thank you (ngā mihi), and encouragements like be strong (kia kaha). Simple words that relate to the classroom, such as pene rākau (pencil), whāriki (mat) and pātaara wai (water bottle).

By doing this, we’re celebrating the unique culture of our country and helping our students learn about and respect different languages and traditions.

As we continue on this journey of learning and growth, we invite our school community to join us in celebrating the richness of Te Reo Māori and its enduring significance in our shared identity.

Noho ora mai, Whaea Marge, Kaiako Reo Māori

SCHOOL HOURS
School starts at 8:40 am & finishes at 2:45 pm. If tamariki arrive after 8:40 am they are late and need to sign in at the back of our office with Miss Dot.

All students are to be off-site/off-school grounds by 3 pm unless they are attending training for a sport.

This is for safety reasons as we do not have supervision in case of an emergency, injury or incident.
