AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP – YEARS 7/8 GIRLS SOFTBALL

Well done to our Girls’ Softball team for placing sixth at the Auckland Championships last Thursday – this was a great effort for a team of girls that don’t play club softball. Thank you to all the whānau that helped the girls get up bright and early for the tournament. A massive thank you to Whaea Marilyn who coached both our girls and boys teams – she has given up lots of her own time to ensure our teams have been successful!

RPS FUTSAL PRE-SEASON

Our RPS boys Futsal Team played their hearts out in the pre-season final at on Sunday against Kohimarama School.
It was an absolute nail-biter, with our boys making an incredible comeback from 3-1 down to tie 3-3 in the final minute!
The match went to penalties, and although RPS went down 3-2, we’re so proud of the effort and spirit shown by the team. Ka pai to all the players who participated and represented our school with pride!

FUTURE FERNS NETBALL PROGRAMME

Our Years 1-6 Netball Skills Programme kicked off last week and we were thrilled to see so many young players excited to learn.
Through the fun and engaging sessions, our players are already improving their ball skills, footwork and fitness. It’s all about building their confidence in the game and a lifelong love for netball!

TREAD LIGHTLY CARAVAN EXPERIENCE

Last week, we had the opportunity to explore the Tread Lightly Caravan, where we learned valuable lessons about protecting our environment. One key takeaway was that whatever we throw into the waste bin, like chip packets or old toys, will stay there forever and can harm the planet. We also discovered which types of energy are more efficient, like how kinetic energy can be used to power things with less effort, and we even learned about the different body parts of a Weta!

During the session, we took an environmental footprint quiz, explored the ocean through Visual Reality to see how pollution affects marine life, sorted objects into the correct bins, powered devices using our own energy, and examined insects up close under a microscope.

The highlight of the experience was using kinetic energy to charge a phone. Riding the bike to generate power was both fun and eye-opening!

This experience will impact my daily life because now I know how to save energy, take better care of the ecosystem, and recycle things I no longer need.
