The sun was shining and the competition was on! Congratulations to the following students who placed in our track and field events and a big thank-you to all our whānau who came to support our tamariki.

AIMS CELEBRATION DINNER

Last Thursday we celebrated the 2024 successes of our AIMS squad with whānau and one of our sponsors, Ross Roofing. Two volunteers Tiriana Allison and the Vaiaia whānau also received recognition for their commitment and support both in the build-up to and during the week of the tournament. The final results were :

RPS Girls Futsal 2 second out of 22 teams

RPS Boys Futsal 25th out of 40 teams

RPS Netball 4 out of 135 teams and our

RPS Rugby 7’s 29th out of 35 teams.

ATTENDANCE DRAW

Thank you for ensuring your tane/wahine arrive at school prior to the 8.40 am bell. Students arriving after this time are to register with Miss Dot. They receive a late pass to take to class. When students enter class after the bell it can be unsettling entering the classroom and is disruptive for the rest of the akonga.

As of the end of last week, RPS has 253 students with 100% attendance so far this term.  Keep it up, in Week 10 all students with 100% will go in the drawer for our basket of balls.

TERM 3 ATTENDANCE DATA

We are continuing to get better.

Year 7 had the highest proportion of students attending regularly, with 72%  (70% in Term 2 and 69% in Term 1) and Year 1 had the highest proportion of students with chronic absence, with 16% (17% in Term 2 and 18% in Term 1).

DROPPING AND COLLECTING YOUR CHILDREN/TAMARIKI

When dropping your tamariki off in the morning please use our yellow coned drop-off area. This is for the safety of you and your tamariki. If you would like to walk your child/ren to class, please park on the road.

Our school gates are closed from 2 pm. Only parents/whānau who have a parking permit are permitted through the gates as we have limited parking spaces.

If you have any questions, please contact our school office on 09 2670112 or 0800 438777. Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation in keeping our tamariki safe.

CYBERSAFETY – PROTECTING OUR TAMARIKI ONLINE

As parents/whānau, you do everything you can to keep your tamariki safe.
Being online is no different, but the strategies to keep our tamariki safe are.
Here is this week’s Cyber Safety tip to ensure the online safety of our tamariki.

Lead by example

Lead by example and always model the kind of positive online behaviour you would like your children to use. If they see you being cautious and respectable when you are online, they are more likely to follow in your footsteps.

Ultimately, you don’t want to instil fear in your child or prevent them from experiencing the many educational, entertainment, social and other benefits of the internet, but rather give them the skills and knowledge they need to know how to make the most of it and avoid the dangers.

Health and Safety- NO CROCS permitted

For health and safety we ask that students do not wear crocs – they are not practical when students are participating in physical education and fitness activities. Our Year 7-8 tamariki have not been permitted to wear these for the above reason and as part of their technology programme.

SCHOOL HOURS
School starts at 8:40 am & finishes at 2:45 pm. If tamariki arrive after 8:40 am they are late and need to sign in at the back of our office with Miss Dot, our School Liaison Officer.

All students are asked to be off school grounds by 3 pm unless they are attending a sport training.

This is for safety reasons as we do not have supervision in case of an emergency, injury or incident.

Please contact SKIDS (after-school care) if you need supervision for your child/ren on 0276275001 or 0800543922.

SUMMER UNIFORM

As spring moves into summer we are enjoying lighter mornings and longer evenings. Our summer uniform consists of our school shorts, skirt, polo shirt, and school shoes (Roman Sandals, school shoes (black, white or navy blue), or sports shoes

Please ensure you son/daughter come to school in our full school uniform. It is great to see a number of our tamaiti being sun safe by wearing our school sunhat.

If your child is wearing a piece of jewellery as part of their culture, please advise either their class teacher or school office. Jewellery, nail polish, jandals and crocs are not part of our school uniform.

LABELLING CLOTHING ITEMS

We regularly have lost clothing. As you are aware school uniform items are expensive. To assist us in ensuring that we can return any lost items to their owner,  please clearly label all items.
